Which is the best free anti virus 2012

Published on April 12, 2012

Well, the first thing we should consider in maintenance of our desktop/laptop is security.

I have personally tested all the free anti virus and writing the review based on my analysis.

1. AVG Free Edition

I consider, this to be the best antivirus so far.

Pros:

  • Doesn’t slow down the system.
  • Detects exploits from emails too.
  • Web reputation for websites that we browse.
  • Less time to update.
  • The free version also works well.

Cons:

  • Regular Update is required.
  • Can’t fix usb virus errors.

** 2. Avast antivirus:

**

Pros:

  • Boot Time scan available.(i.e you can choose to scan the important memory areas at time of start-up
  • Fixes the shortcut folder virus in pen drives.

Cons:

  • Uninstall problems.(i.e sometimes the antivirus is not uninstalled by common methods)
  • Slows the system during scan.

3. Quick Heal Antivirus:

Pros:

  • Boot time scan available.
  • New DNA protection is provided for free version also which save from several malicious attacks.

Cons:

  • Slows down the performance of system
  • Hard to uninstall(in some cases)

4. Panda Cloud Antivirus:

Pros:

  • The best feature of it is it’s cloud based protection.(Read this for complete review)
  • It consumes very less system’s resources.
  • Blocks access to dangerous websites.

Cons:

  • Unable to clear all viruses(In free version).
  • NO USB vaccination in free version.
  • Cannot remove all malwares.

Apart from these, there is new OPEN SOURCE Antivirus by name, COMODO Internet Security.

It worked very well for several days, but don’t know what’s the reason it stopped detecting viruses.

But, users who are interested in trying a new antivrus can give it a shot!
