How to hide a file / folder from search results in Windows in 3 steps

Published on May 27, 2012

We can control what all items are to be displayed and hidden when we search for a particular term in the pc by changing the indexing options.

It is not very complicated and can be done in just three steps.

  1. Open Control Panel(All items view) and double click “Indexing Options”.

alternatively, you type “Indexing Options” in start menu>search box and hit enter.

  1. A window will pop-up showing all the folders that are indexed(i.e., which folders are considered into search results).
  2. Navigate through the folder structure and uncheck the folder that you wish to hide from search results.

Thats it!

Now you will not find that folder or files from that folder in any search result.
